Our History
The New Zealand Board of Imams was established in 2010 as a response to the growing need for coordinated religious leadership and guidance for the Muslim community in New Zealand. What began as a small group of Imams from Auckland has now grown to include religious leaders from across the country.
Over the years, the NZBI has played a crucial role in addressing various religious matters, including moonsighting for Islamic months, providing fatawa (religious rulings), and offering guidance on contemporary issues facing Muslims in New Zealand.
Today, the NZBI continues to serve the Muslim community, working closely with mosques, Islamic centers, and community organizations to promote Islamic values and foster unity among Muslims in New Zealand.
